Clinical & Research Brief
A practical snapshot of CalmaLink for clinicians, informaticians, and community partners: scope, value, and evaluation roadmap.
What it is
- Free, bilingual (EN/ES) micro‑practices delivered via web chat.
- Low‑tech friendly; no account; big tap targets; clear copy.
- Focus: paced breathing, grounding, and brief kindness prompts.
Intended users
- Underserved & high‑stress populations (origin: Yakima farmworkers).
- Caregivers, students, shift workers, community clinic patients.
- English & Spanish speakers; low tech literacy.
What it’s not
- Not diagnosis, triage, or emergency response.
- Not a replacement for therapy, medical care, or crisis lines.
Value in clinics
- Simple handout or QR gives patients a calm practice to use between visits.
- Short scripts fit pre‑visit anxiety, waiting room, or post‑call reset.
- Low operational overhead; no PHI, no login.
Safety stance
- Plain‑language guardrails (“general mindfulness only; 988 for crisis”).
- Conservative prompts; no diagnostic or treatment language.
- De‑identified engagement metrics only when summarized.
Roadmap
- Expand EN/ES library; audio micro‑practices.
- WhatsApp / SMS pilots for lower‑bandwidth access.
- Pragmatic evaluation: task completion, brief calm ratings, retention.
